ATF is a law enforcement agency in the United States’ Department of Justice that protects our communities from violent criminals, criminal organizations, the illegal use and trafficking of firearms, the illegal use and storage of explosives, acts of arson and bombings, acts of terrorism, and the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products. We partner with communities, industries, law enforcement, and public safety agencies to safeguard the public we serve through information sharing, training, research, and use of technology.

The Bureau of Justice Statistics was first established on December 27, 1979 under the Justice Systems Improvement Act of 1979, Public Law 96-157 (the 1979 Amendment to the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, Public Law 90-351). The BJS mission is to collect, analyze, publish, and disseminate information on crime, criminal offenders, victims of crime, and the operation of justice systems at all levels of government. These data are critical to federal, state and local policymakers.

The mission of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is to enforce the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United States and bring to the criminal and civil justice system of the United States, or any other competent jurisdiction, those organizations and principal members of organizations, involved in the growing, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances appearing in or destined for illicit traffic in the United States; and to recommend and support non-enforcement programs aimed at reducing the availability of illicit controlled substances on the domestic and international markets.

The mission of the Kentucky Department of Corrections is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

Each year, DPA attorneys, investigators, mitigation specialists, alternative sentencing workers and administrative specialists handle over 140,000 trial and post trial cases statewide. These include involuntary commitment, juvenile cases, misdemeanors including DUI, and felonies including complex and difficult cases including sex abuse, murder, and cases where death is sought as a penalty.

Under the umbrella of the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, the Department of Criminal Justice Training provides CALEA- and IACET-accredited law enforcement training to an average of 18,000 Kentucky officers annually. DOCJT's training curriculum, overseen by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council, is continuously updated to meet Kentucky Police Officer Professional Standards as mandated by state statutes.

The IC3 publishes the Internet Crime Report annually to increase public awareness of current trends in Internet crime. For this report, the IC3 has also created a separate state-by-state breakdown that allows users to select their state from a dropdown menu so they can review local trends in Internet crime.
