Images: Finding and Using Images on the Web

This guide provides an overview of image copyright and fair use as well as offering online sources for copyright-free or free to use images.

*Images in HCTC Databases may not be in the public domain and may have copyright restrictions. 


 

Credo Reference is an encyclopedia database. From the homepage, users can select the drop-down box in the main search bar and select an image search. 

 


 

EBSCOhost databases contain images and can be accessed as a separate search option. From the EBSCOhost database homepage, select the "Images" drop-down menu.

Selecting "Image Collection" navigates the user to a search bar for the image collection.

The search can be limited by specific options related to images such as maps, photos of place, photos of people, natural science photos, historical photos, flags, etc. 


 

From the Gale Database homepage, select "Advanced."

From the "Advanced Search" page, scroll down to "More Options" and select the box beside "Document Contains Images."

From the results page, under "Content Types" on the right side of your screen, select "Images."


 

From the ProQuest homepage, select "Advanced Search."

From the "Advanced Search" page, scroll down to document type and select the appropriate boxes for the desired images.
